A Man and His Bike

My girlfriend’s dad’s wife’s family has this great place on a small island outside of Kragerø, Telemark, Norway. There was some amusement when I announced that I would bring my bike. There was even more amusement when I rode it to the highest hill on the island. I am sure you will be amused to learn that this “hill” stands a mighty fifty-five metres tall above sea level.

But the mostest amusest was I, who got to sit in silence with my bestest metal friend, as seen on this photo right here.

Porsgrunn Internasjonale Teaterfestival

These people are hanging in the air to entertain the people of Porsgrunn during [pit.no](PIT – Porsgrunn International Theatre festival).

PIT is really something to look forward to, and I am sure 22-26 June this year are going to be just as full of photo opportunities as ever.

Split City

Porsgrunn is in no way a remarkable town, but the geographical location makes for a few interesting phenomena. When the weather goes from cold to warm the river releases steam which stays around in the valley.

Cold and damp days are not particularly pleasant, but every once in a while the visual aesthetics make up for it.

Water Crystals Packed Loosely

Water flows, no matter what phase it is in. Sometimes this translates well over in to photography.

What We See

From our living room in the teeny, tiny village where our ambitions for a bachelors degree have taken us.

Stavern Snow

There has been a fair bit of snow this winter. This is some of it.

Had a fairly crappy photowalk with Jostein a little while ago. None of us felt inspired at all and felt that we got nothing out of the trip except for cold feet and runny noses.

I do however force myself to look at and process pictures in Lightroom even if I feel they did not turn out well. After a couple hours I was quite please with my doctoring of initially mediocre photographs.

Bryggefjell View

Climbing 450 height meters, sometimes on the back of your bike, sometimes the bike on your back, is worth it when this is the reward.

This view is from Bryggefjell, which lies in Bø, Telemark.

Gps track here.

House in Porsgrunn

Porsgrunn is full of houses, as a city is wont to be. None of them seem to be entirely straight.

Garages in Stavern

Stavern is full of .. People. That is, during the two (three if we are lucky) months of summer we have here in southern Norway. The remaining 9 months it is as devoid of life as these garages.

Taken during a photowalk with my good friend Jostein.

Monumental Concrete Structure in Vrangfoss

Telemark has quite a few canals. This is one of the concrete blocks that watches over them.

Bridge Over Nowhere

During a detour from university -›> home I found this bridge to be interesting. As interesting as a railroad bridge can be. Which is to say; not very.

Mist Over Porsgrunn River

The Porsgrunn river (or Skien River, depending on which city you come from) fills up the whole valley with mist.
